The lesser-known body of water, Gayatri Waterfalls, is located on the Kadam River. The river is a tributary of the great Godavari river. Far from the human eye, the waterfalls have found their habitat in a very isolated location inside a deep forest. It is at a distance of about 5 km from the village of Tarnam Khurd, Ichoda near Neredigonda of Adilabad district. The villagers living around the waterfalls call it Mukdi Gundam or Gadidha Gundam. It is a real feast for your eyes to see this incredible waterfall plunge from a height of 100 feet into the valley to create a magnificent view.

If you drive 256 km from Hyderabad towards Adilabad, on the NH 7, you can reach the village of Neredigonda. After reaching the village of Neredigonda, you have to travel 6 km to reach the village of Kupti, where you will find a sign indicating to turn right to reach the village of Tarnam. The bend and driving for 2 km on a dirt road will bring you to the village of Tarnam Khurd. From the village of Tarnam, you have to walk 5 km to reach the waterfalls. Make sure you have a villager with you to guide you, or you could get lost in the dense jungle.

When you stand in front of these inviting falls, you will see the beautiful falls with a huge freshwater pool below. The view is so amazing, as the drizzling water tingles your cheek. Such a modern way of welcoming guests! When you go up to get a top view of the falls, you will feel captivated by a panoramic view. The place also offers moderate to difficult hiking opportunities and is best visited during monsoons. The lesser-known Gayatri Waterfalls are usually visited with Kaniki, Pochera, and Kuntala Falls located nearby.

 Hiking or Trekking

There is about a 5 km hike from Tarnam Khurd village to the waterfalls. You can get guides from the village or even ask the local people for help, to guide you to the waterfalls, to avoid losing track of the route. You have to cross the forests to reach the base of the waterfalls. After parking your vehicles in Tarnam, you will set off for a hike.

A short walk will take you to a small stream. It is one of the coves of the Kadem river. After crossing the stream and walking again for about half an hour, you will reach cotton and soybean fields. Here the dense forest begins and you will also come across beautiful and lush green meadows on your way, before finally reaching Gayatri Falls.

Enjoy swimming in the pool

Cascading water from Gayatri Waterfalls collects at the bottom to form a swimming pool. Visitors can swim in the pool and savor the fresh water. You need to be careful when swimming or standing in the pool, the rocks at the bottom can be slippery at times. You can of course take a dip or two in the water, but avoid going too deep as there are submerged rocks underneath.

Since Most of the visitors pass by Nirmal town. It is advised to stop at nirmal for shopping. Nirmal is famous for his unique paintings. These paintings are popular by the very name – Nirmal paintings. You can also buy souvenirs or small works of art to display, from the town of Nirmal. Figures, toys and other items are made here and are a centerpiece of this city.

By Road

Gayatri Waterfalls are located at a distance of about 270 km from Hyderabad. From Hyderabad, local buses go to Adilabad district. Either you can go directly to Tarman Khurd from Adilabad or go to Nirmal town and then go further to Traman. Taxis, taxi services and local buses are readily available to cover the extent. You can go by vehicle only to the village of Tarnam Khurd. From there, you have to do a 5 km hike on foot, to reach the waterfalls.

By Train

The nearest railway station is at adilabad, From there you can catch a bus or a taxi reach Tarnam Khurd Village.

By Air

The nearest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Located at Shamshabad, Hyderabad.
