Birla Planetarium is Located in the heart of Hyderabad city, the Birla Planetarium is one of the most modern planetariums in the India. Not just kids, this is one of popular tourist spots in Hyderabad. In the year 1985 it was inaugurated by the late Sri N.T. Rama Rao. This planetarium is the first phase of the Birla Science Center in Hyderabad, which was nothing less than a landmark to bridge the gap between the popular masses and science. This dome-shaped structure was developed with technological help from Japan. This place presents its visitors with the latest information about the Universe and various theories and inventions related to it.
It not only educates but also entertains its visitors in different ways. The Birla Planetarium in Hyderabad features international standards of presentation, which has been ranked among the best and most visited planetariums in the world. Its cosmic presentation can be easily seen as comparable to that of the United States, Japan and Europe. It’s a place for everyone as the entrance fees to the Birla Planetarium are minimal. However, children under the age of 4 are not allowed to attend the Sky Show.
The Sky Show is the planetarium’s most attractive feature. The sky show at Birla Planetarium Hyderabad has a unique feature that very few people are familiar with. Each year sky show will be presented with a different theme, based on a different scientific theory/approach. The first show theme was based on the universe and it was named ASTOUNDING UNIVERSE in the year 1985, followed by the comet of the century, in 1986 and the sky show is Mangalyaan to March 2014 – 2015, it was The Time Machine 2013-2014.
The Dinosaurium is the addition to the planetarium in the year 2000. It is a unique natural history gallery that exhibits a magnificent and rare fossil of the Kotasaurus, a dinosaur that belongs to the Lower Jurassic Age, which is nearly 160 million years old. It was approximately 14 meters in length and 5 meters in height. The fossils were found and collected in the Adilabad district of Telangana and were assembled by Geological Survey of India. The Dinosaurium also has other rare collections – fossilized tree trunks, marine shells and fossils of dinosaur eggs.
BIRLA CENTER Adjacent to the Planetorium has Associate in Atronomical Observatory, a 3D universe and a gallery Birla Observatory and Astronomical Analysis Center.
The roof houses the Astronomical Observatory. This is achieved with the Indo-French cooperation effort. The Observatory itself incorporates a telescope. The Observatory houses the C11 telescope offered by the Paris uranoscope. This observatory would encourage amateurs and students to use the capacity, for the purpose of diffusive interest in the subject.
Dr. Larry James, COO of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Reaction Propulsion Laboratory inaugurated the 3D universe on March 29, 2016, guests will flee to the depths of the oceans on Earth to witness to the wonders of ocean life, the right coral reef, and alternative breathtaking hidden options.
Gallery of modern art: It is dream child of birla family who has taken the most effort to aggregate these artefacts and paintings over the decades. The fashionable photo gallery was inaugurated by the then chief minister of the province, Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu on February 1, 2003, some of the paintings the gallery holds are one.
