About Sanghi Temple

Sanghi Temple is situated in Sanghi Nagar, 35 km from Hyderabad in India. It is situated on a hill named as Paramananda Giri, where one see a huge Maha Dwaram or a walkway welcomes visitors. The Raja Gopuram can be seen several kilometers away, very large in size. A little further on, a long staircase leads to the entrance to the temple complex. A heavy and beautifully carved gate forms the main entrance to the temple. The beautiful temple complex is built in the style of Chola-Chalukya architecture and hosts all the important idols of Hindu God.

Sanghi Temple

In the famous temple of Sanghi, the Lord Venkateshwara Deity inside the sanctum is nine feet tall and is the same as that of Tirumala. Alankaram every day to the Lord at the temple of Balaji. On the right is the home of the Goddess Padmavathi, the wife of Lord Venkateswara. Described as the epithet of love, mercy and compassion, the divinity sits on a lotus and also holds lotuses in his hand. The Ashtalakshmi temple is located between the Balaji and Padmavathi temples. Covered with jewels and garlands, the goddess Aadilakshmi in 8 faces is seated holding a lotus and Abhaya mudra in both her hands and a lotus and Vara mudra (offering blessings) in her other two hands. Near the idol of Lord Venkateshwara, is the temple of Lord SriRama, symbol of the conquest of man over evil. The accompaniment of the Lord is his wife goddess Sita, the devoted brother Lakshmana, and the fervent devotee Hanuman, who sits at the feet of the Lord with clasped hands.

It all started with a dream. The urge to create something truly divine. And the Sanghi family, well known for their benevolent and charitable character, set out to make this dream a reality. Under the leadership of Late Shri Ram Sharan Sanghi and also by dynamic young Shri Ravi Sanghi led the project with dedication, passion, determination and careful planning. Rapid decision-making and an eye for every detail prompted Shri Ravi Sanghi to complete the construction of the gigantic temple complex at unparalleled speed. In this pious task he was assisted by his wife Smt. Anita Sanghi.

Architecture of Sanghi Temple

To ensure that nothing but the best in the project, the Sanghis have retained the services of Shri Ganapathy Sthapathy, the renowned sculptor. Among his remarkable creations are the temples in Chicago, New York and Pittsburg. The only recipient of the prestigious Padmashri prize for his contribution in temple architecture, Shri Ganapathy Sthapathy had designed all the architecture in the Chola and Chalukya styles. From the site selection for the temple complex to the location of each temple and the determination of the measure of deities, Shri Ganapathy Sthapathy meticulously followed the Shilpa Shastra.Sthapati was born in 1927 for the sculptor Vaidyanatha Sthapati and Velammal in Pillayarpatti, a village near Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India.

Sthapati attended Dr. Alagappa Chettiar College in Karaikudi and graduated in mathematics. After graduating, he became Sthapati at the Palani Murugan Temple, Palani, Tamil Nadu, India. He resigned from this post after the death of his father, who served as director of the School of Architecture and Sculpture in Mamallapuram from 1957 to 1960. He succeeded his father as director of the Government College of Education, architecture and sculpture, TN, India.

Beginning in the 1980s, Sthapati campaigned to restore and elevate the status of traditional Hindu architecture in modern Indian society and also affiliate courses at Madras University and offer courses, resulting in a revival of Vastu Shastra. After the retirement of government service, he created the Vaastu Vedic Trust and the Vaastu Vedic Research Foundation, aimed at the research, development and globalization of Vaastu Shastra.
